This symposium brings together practitioners, researchers, and innovators to explore the tangible realities of digital humanism beyond theory. While digital humanism as a framework emphasises human agency, dignity, and democratic values in our increasingly digital world, the crucial question remains: what does this actually look like when implemented in real-world contexts?
Through curated case studies and insights from companies, we will examine successful initiatives that have embedded humanistic principles in digital systems, platforms, and policies.
Our panel features Dr. Niina Zuber, Research Coordinator at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), whose work on the EDAP (Ethical Deliberation in Agile Processes) project has developed a framework enabling agile teams to systematically integrate ethical principles into software development and Tomáš Halász, CEO of TrollWall AI, whose award-winning platform uses artificial intelligence to combat online hate and foster safer digital discourse.
Participants will discover concrete examples of how organisations are translating digital humanist values into practice, learn from implementation challenges and successes, and engage in collaborative discussions about the future of human-centred digital transformation.
The symposium is structured in two complementary parts: the first features industry insights through a moderated panel discussion with our practitioners, while the second examines specific success stories and facilitates focused discussions between EUDHIT partners and participants on implementation challenges.
